Design wise, the X7 Plus shares many features with the M6 PRO. Obviously, there are MEE proprietary design choices that are common to all their headphones. However, the X7 Plus is sturdily built. It’s intended to stay on regardless of how much the user moves or how much they sweat. The earbud pieces have over ear “memory” wires. The difference between these memory wires and regular wires is that the memory wires can be molded into a desirable shape.
Regular over-the-ear headphones either have a plastic piece that fits to the outer area of the ear, or the user has to manually move the wire over the ear. The plastic pieces are quite uncomfortable to wear and could cause chafing when worn during exercises. Manually putting a wire over the ear is a hassle, and the wires can easily slip out. The advantage of memory wires is that the top half of the wire is stiffer. So when it’s put over the ear to fit the ear bud, it stays like a plastic piece, but feels very light like a regular rubber wire. It doesn’t chafe. Also, the shape stays for two or three wears, or until the user adjusts it.
We experienced a better fit with these headphones. The ear buds are considerably large and goes in ear. The largeness helps the small pieces stay in place. Also, the ear buds have Liquipel WatersafeTM technology that makes them sweatproof. These ear buds stay on even during the most intense workouts. We were impressed by how snugly these fit without causing discomfort.
The wires have a small control unit attached to adjust the volume. The earbuds also have a built-in microphone, in case you want to take calls while on the treadmill. The unit has a small microUSB port as well to plug in the headphones for charging.
The X7 Plus headphones are lightweight, even if it is made out of plastic and rubber. The headphones can be purchased with different color highlights in red or blue. The default look is a very sleek and stylish black. The colored accents make the headphones look sportier. The headphones come with a clamshell case too.
Yes, these headphones have ear buds that as slightly larger than usual, as mentioned above. However, as explained earlier, the X7 Plus headphones are really comfortable to wear. The overall unit is lightweight, and we didn’t feel it when wearing. It’s made from plastic, but it has a polished type exterior that makes wearing comfortable. The headphones won’t cause irritation or occasional chafing, as it’s common with some plastic ear buds, especially glossy ones.
We could wear these headphones on workout sessions that lasted and hour or more without experiencing any slip offs or discomfort. The headphones fit almost perfectly. The comfort level is high even when wearing for non-exercise use such as listening to movies. But sometimes the ear buds could feel a bit too big. The main advantage with the X7 Plus headphones is that you can wear them without the ear buds getting jerked off when exercising.
Audio and Features
The X7 Plus headphones can be charged for non-stop playback that can last up to 8 hours. The headphones come with Bluetooth enabled AAC HD audio codecs. The Bluetooth works up to about 33 meters. The audio is slightly different from wired MEE headphones like the M6 PRO. With any pair of Bluetooth earphones, you will experience a slight change in quality from wired ones. And yet, we were impressed by the audio quality these provided.
Mainly, the headphones were loud and clear at all times. It delivers a solid, deep bass, crystal clear mids, and loud highs. The high mids are pretty loud so it can sound a bit shrill at times. Workout music usually involves high beats and bass. These headphones can definitely deliver the loud sounds you want to get the adrenaline pumping for a calorie killing workout. Plus, the audio is clear enough to talk on the phone as well, if needed.
The MEE X7 Plus fit snugly in the ear like a glove to the hand. These earphones won’t easily slip out when you are jogging 10 miles per hour.
These headphones are made from plastic, but feel very comfortable and lightweight when worn. You won’t experience irritation and discomfort when wearing during workouts.
One of the important factors to look for in a pair of workout headphones is whether it’s waterproof. The X7 Plus is sweatproof, so they won’t get ruined after one or two workouts.
Good Bluetooth Audio
The audio is crisp and clear despite the ear buds being Bluetooth powered. It’s a huge perk considering most Bluetooth headphones have bad audio compared to wired ones.
Who Is It for?
